If Chris Jericho returns to WWE next year, what does the company want him to do exactly?

Rumors have been running rampant for months now that WWE would be interested in bringing Chris Jericho back to the company next year when his contract with AEW expires. But if the former AEW World Champion were to return to WWE, what would this return look like?

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has offered Chris Jericho a retirement storyline if he were to return to the company next year. Apparently, this is the only thing WWE is interested in regarding a potential Jericho return.

Meltzer notes some people expect Jericho to make the jump back to WWE when his contract with AEW expires. However, that’s far from confirmed.

Nick Jackson is hopeful Chris Jericho will remain with AEW

All Elite Wrestling’s Nick Jackson recently spoke with Adam Glyn. When asked about Jericho’s status with the company, Jackson expressed his hope that the “founding father” will remain with the company.

“He’s a founding father, so of course we want him to stay,” Nick Jackson said. “We’re not sure where he’s at headspace-wise right now, but I know he’s on a break. He’s trying to figure it out on his own. And sometimes you gotta let a wrestler like that figure it out on his own.”
