Hiroshi Tanahashi’s Final Opponent Revealed
The mystery of Hiroshi Tanahashi’s final opponent at Wrestle Kingdom 20 next year has finally been revealed.
This morning, during New Japan Pro-Wrestling‘s Road To Anjo event, after Tanahashi picked up a victory over Yuto-Ice, the live crowd at the Tosho Arena Anjo in Anjo, Aichi Prefecture, Japan got a special treat with the surprise return of AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada.
Okada made his way to the ring with Gedo and faced off with Tanahashi, revealing himself as his final opponent next year at Wrestle Kingdom 20.
Tanahashi and Okada are no strangers to each other, especially at Wrestle Kingdom. This will be their fourth matchup together at Wrestle Kingdom. Their last one took place in 2016.
Their rivalry extends way past Wrestle Kingdom, as this will be their 18th one-on-one match together. The last match took place at The New Beginning in Osaka in 2024, which saw Okada defeat Tanahashi.
While WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura was discussed as Tanahashi’s final opponent, it was seen as a pipe dream and never came to fruition.
