AJ Francis Wants The Pro Wrestling World To Put More Effort Into Giving Back
AJ Francis is using his platform for a good cause, and he’d like to see more of the pro wrestling world do the same.
For the past eight years, Francis has hosted an annual canned food drive. He’ll host the 9th annual one on November 22, and it will once again benefit Sarah’s House in Fort Meade, Maryland. Francis spoke with Bodyslam.net‘s Nick Perkins about his event, noting that while he plays a heel on TNA TV, he tries to be a good person outside of the ring. Francis also shared that he wishes more of the wrestling community would use their respective platforms to help others on a larger scale.
“I just wish there was more of an emphasis from the wrestling community to give back,” Francis said. “Maybe it’s because I’m from where I’m from that I see the real side of the world that other people maybe have never actually had to experience. There’s plenty of wrestlers that could do this. And I’m not sitting here trying to toot my own horn, but I’m asking them, why don’t they? Especially in a business like wrestling, where the entire thing is self-promotion.”
Francis said he worked hard to get where he is in life, but he also caught a few breaks along the way. He wants to give someone else to get ahead, and his canned food drive is one way he is trying to help.
The 9th Annual AJ Francis Canned Food Drive takes place at SECU Stadium in College Park on Nov. 22, 2025, during the University of Maryland vs. Michigan college football game. Fans are also welcome to make donations directly to Sarah’s House if they can’t make it in person.
“People can donate directly to Sarah’s House if they’re unable to make the event,” he said. “And if they are coming to the event, we’re looking for non-perishables; so canned goods, diaper, baby food, formula, ramen noodles, anything that’s non-perishable. But a good one is always diapers, and baby wipes and formula because there’s a lot of babies at Sarah’s House. That’s how people can help out.”
“You can impact your community more than you think,” he added. “You are more than capable of changing peoples’ lives around you. The only thing stopping you from doing it is your own hesitations. You can say whatever you want about me, but you can’t ever say that I turned my back on my community. You can’t say that. I’m actively trying to help people that deserve the dignity of a regular, normal, functioning life. And I hope people realize that we’re all one human race and there’s nothing dividing us except for our own ignorance. We can go out of our way to make this world a better place.”
