Updated Timeline On Jacob Fatu’s WWE Return — Report
A new update has emerged on the timeline of Jacob Fatu’s return after he was attacked on SmackDown last week.
Earlier reports claimed that Jacob Fatu will take an extended time away from in-ring competition due to a “non-wrestling related” injury, which could sideline him until 2026. However, WWE continued to advertise his match against Drew McIntyre on last week’s SmackDown, and General Manager Nick Aldis even announced it would be a No.1 contender’s match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Fatu got laid out backstage before the match and Cody Rhodes replaced him in an impromptu match against McIntyre. While fans thought WWE played off the segment to write Fatu off television for a lengthy hiatus, Brian Alvarez of F4WOnline.com has stated that The Samoan Werewolf could return by November 29 on Survivor Series weekend.
“It’s now looking likely Fatu will be back by Survivor Series weekend,” Alvarez wrote.
Fatu was one of the rumored names for the men’s WarGames match for Survivor Series. It was reported that WWE was planning to have Jacob Fatu team with Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Jey Uso, and either LA Knight or Jimmy Uso to face Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar, and Austin Theory.
While it was thought both Seth Rollins and Jacob Fatu would be out of the picture due to injuries, it appears The Samoan Werewolf can return in time to compete inside WarGames.
Reports On Reason Why Jacob Fatu Was Written Off WWE TV
The earlier report that stated Jacob Fatu would take a lengthy hiatus from WWE television didn’t provide any details on the nature of Jacob Fatu’s “non-wrestling related” injury.
PWInsider later reported that Fatu was recovering from a dental procedure, and that WWE was hopeful that the former United States Champion would be back “very soon.”
The backstage segment on last week’s SmackDown also showed Fatu losing some teeth as result of the attack.
