John Cena is currently on his retirement tour from WWE. Besides his work as a WWE star, Cena is also a crucial part of the DC Universe. The Franchise Player has already collaborated with James Gunn and played a lead role in the wildly popular Peacemaker series on HBO Max.

After working with John Cena on various projects, James Gunn has made a bold statement about him. The popular filmmaker holds a different opinion from the general audience and believes that Cena isn’t just a ‘wrestler turned actor.’

In a conversation with GQ, James talked about Peacemaker and further shared his opinion about the WWE veteran. Gunn highlighted Cena’s run as a wrestler and affirmed that he’s viewed him as an actor since the beginning. The filmmaker praised John Cena for his work performance and asserted that he hasn’t had the opportunity to show the emotional side of himself.

The DC community head also has an appreciation for the transformation of John Cena and his ability to play the character of Peacemaker in the superhero series. Gunn said, “And then for people to even talk about John Cena as a wrestler turned actor—you go, ‘F**k that. That’s not what he is. He’s an actor. He’s an actor.’ I mean every actor did something before they were acting. [Wrestling] that just happens to be the job he had before this. Because he is fantastic.”

The second season of John Cena’s Peacemaker series is loved by the audience. However, many are curious to know what the future of the series is. In an interview with Deadline, the DC filmmaker confirmed some of the characters will move on in future DC projects. However, that might not exactly be “Peacemaker 3” and might take on another form.
