Report: Top AEW Star To Miss All Out PPV

Kenny Omega is expected to miss AEW All Out, but his absence was expected in advance.

Omega appeared on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, where he teamed with Hangman Page and JetSpeed against the Young Bucks, Kyle Fletcher, and Josh Alexander. The latter ultimately won the match, and participated in a post-match beatdown that saw Kyle Fletcher hit Hangman with a Sheerdrop brainbuster on a chair.

Fletcher then followed up with a Sheerdrop on Omega through a table as Dynamite went off the air. Many expected this to signal the start of a feud between Kyle Fletcher and Kenny Omega. However, that does not appear to be the case… at least not as far as All Out is concerned.

According to Fightful (via Fightful Select), AEW sources stated that Wednesday night’s angle was designed to write Kenny Omega off of television. However, this is due to Kenny Omega having planned time off around this time of the year. It was noted that Omega’s absence had been planned for months, and this absence includes a planned trip to Japan.

The outlet noted that Omega confirmed he has been wrestling through pain. However, that’s been a normal occurrence for him, and he “pretty well knows it will be moving forward.”

It’s unclear when Omega will return to AEW TV, but unless plans change, fans should not expect him to be at AEW All Out on September 20. Last night’s angle was designed to help explain Omega’s absence while also putting Fletcher, the current TNT Champion, over.

Earlier this week, AEW confirmed a new start time for All Out. The promotion also announced that the event will be the first AEW PPV to air live on HBO Max.
