Tony Khan Has No Comment On IATSE Union Protest At AEW 2300 Arena Event

Tony Khan declined to comment on the ongoing union protests outside of the venue where AEW just began a multi-event residency.

All Elite Wrestling began a seven-event residency at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia on Wednesday night. Outside of the venue, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees union (IATSE 8) held a protest. The group claims that industry standard rates are not being met for the upcoming slate of shows. The group not only protested outside of the arena, but started a campaign on social media too, encouraging fans to boycott the shows.

Tony Khan was asked about the ongoing protests during his ROH Death Before Dishonor media call on the matter. It was prefaced that this seemed like an issue between the union and the venue, but Khan was asked if he had any comments since there was a boycott being pitched.

Khan simply said that he had no comment on the matter and moved to the next question.

“No, I don’t [have any comment],” Khan said. “Thank you.”

AEW issued a statement on the IATSE protests

On Wednesday night, AEW issued a statement to POST Wrestling. AEW claims it was paying proper wages, and any current dispute was between the union and the 2300 Arena.

“All Elite Wrestling has paid, and will continue to pay, the prevailing wages to all locals used as part of our residency at the venue and has maintained a great relationship with IATSE Local 8 for previous events held at other venues in Philadelphia,” an AEW spokesperson said to POST Wrestling. “Any current demonstrations being held are between 2300 Arena and IATSE Local 8.”

The IATSE 8 headquarters is located at 2401 S Swanson Street in Philadelphia. This is directly across the street from the 2300 Arena. The venue is set to host six more AEW and ROH events over the next three weeks.
