Samoa Joe has wrestled in some really wacky venues.

Joe recently spoke with WrestleZone Senior Editor Matt Black to promote his role as Sweet Tooth in Twisted Metal. The show is based on the popular Twisted Metal video game series for Sony PlayStation-branded consoles, which features crazy stunts and unique locations.

AEW has hosted television tapings in some unique venues, including the recent tapings at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Joe hasn’t been on television due to getting stretchered out at All In last month, but he thinks AEW running shows in unique and intimate venues is a great move.

“I think atmosphere and environment can often make a show. And I think that these smaller, more intimate atmospheres, the energy is more tangible in the room,” Samoa Joe explained. “It’s a much more interactive experience, and it’s a little bit more intense because of the proximity. And I’ve always enjoyed those kinds of venues. They’re always a lot of fun.

“So yeah, I think it’s a good idea, and I will look forward to seeing what the next wild venues we have set up here for the future,” Joe added. “I heard there’s a bunch, and they’re pretty varied. So yeah, we’ll see what the future brings.”

Samoa Joe had worked in some pretty wild venues

Samoa Joe was asked to name the weirdest places he’s ever wrestled in. Joe rattled off a few venues, one of which was a match with CM Punk in the back of a rental truck. He joked that those were only some of the crazy places he had a match, and could likely recall others with more time.

“Ooh, I mean, I’ve wrestled in strip clubs. I’ve wrestled in rodeo, essentially, like the holding pen for all the cattle [laughs]. I’ve wrestled at a CFL halftime shows. Yeah, there’s been some pretty wild venues in my time,” Samoa Joe said.

“I wrestled on the back of a U-Haul truck that was converted into a ring on Monster Garage. There’s been quite a few wacky venues in my time,” he added. “I’m sure I’ll remember a few more once we get done with this interview.”

Season two of Twisted Metal is now streaming on Peacock.
