The current era of professional wrestling, especially in WWE, has changed a lot. There are several people who play key roles in all the decisions. Before, everything was decided by one man, Vince McMahon. Recently, the Ring General Gunther claimed that McMahon’s mindset about the talent was a losing game.

Gunther was a special guest on The Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast. During the interview, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion shared that it is important for the talent’s mental health to have a steady work-life balance.

“I feel like a little bit, there is a little bit of a healthy culture shift in the business now anyway. Because I feel like, Vince [McMahon] was big on, ‘You got to want it. You got to give everything. And I always felt like if you give… If you invest your whole life into something that can only be decided by one person’s decision at the end, that’s like a losing game. It works for some. But I don’t know if it would… If I’m a Football player, and I train really hard, I’m a Winger. And then I try to get faster than I am fast.

“It doesn’t matter who likes me. Or who doesn’t like me. I’m going to have my spot. And in wrestling, it’s different. It’s an entertainment product now. There’s roles and stuff like that. So, I feel like, that’s why wrestling is a little bit weird sometimes. Like a middle sport of like entertainment, but you still have athletes. And it has both those aspects. I feel like just for our own mental health, I would say, like you don’t feel crazy all the time. It is good to have a balance. Give it your all in both. Give it your all in your private life. And also give it your all at work, and not just work, work, work,” Gunther said.
