Ryan and Nic Nemeth Are In Rare Company As TNA Tag Team Champions
Ryan and Nic Nemeth say there’s (almost) no one in TNA who can match what they do.
The current TNA World Team Champions recently spoke with WrestleZone Manager Bill Pritchard. The Nemeths, aka the Hollywood Heels, are one of just five brother-related teams (The Hardys, oVe (The Crists), Lucha Bros (Penta and Rey Fenix) and The Briscoes) to win the TNA World Tag Team Championship. (Six, if you count the Dudley Boyz/Team 3D.)
However, the Nemeths believe they are the best brother team… or at least a shoo-in for the top 5.
“We beat the Hardys. We beat the rotating cast of the Hardy-Slaters, whatever the situation is, and we’re just getting going,” Nic Nemeth said. “The Hardys have absolutely kicked ass for over three decades, maybe four now. They’ve got the entire world behind them. And when that music hits, I love it. I love hearing it, I watch the crowd lose their minds. But, when it comes to business, you have to take that fan out of it and go, ‘Okay, I’m here to defend this title.’ Not go, ‘Yay, I remember this song from when I was growing up.’
“So, we have to be able to back it up in the ring. And the Hardys are freaking awesome. They’ve done so much for several different companies all over the world, legit almost four decades,” Nic continued. “That’s insane. That’s so big and it’s so great to have them with TNA. And now that being said, Ryan pinned Jeff Hardy, we are the tag team champions. They are welcome to come at us, but it can’t just be every week they just try and get them back until one day they catch us off guard. But, as much as we are just getting going, it’s our time to start dominating as a brothers tag team. And we’ll go from minimum fourth to a third on that list by the end of the year.”
Ryan Nemeth on being a tag team and did they ever think that they would never be a tag team
During a previous interview, Ryan Nemeth mentioned wanting to work with Nic again, as they weren’t an established tag team at that point. Was there ever a point that they thought teaming up together wouldn’t happen?
“I think the truthful answer is I probably thought it was not ever going to happen like a year and half or two years ago,” Ryan Nemeth said. “I’ve been trying to get some company to want to do some version of that the whole time. So, yeah. Definitely for me, but it’s been the most, we have so much chemistry pre-wrestling that bringing it together as a tag team has been really, really, really great. There’s a rapport, there’s a chemistry, there’s like a brother bond that fake brothers don’t have. It’s been awesome.”
Ryan and Nic Nemeth will defend the TNA World Team Championship in a four-way ladder match against the Hardys, the Rascalz and Fir$t Cla$$’s AJ Francis and KC Navarro.
