Rhea Ripley Gets Emotional Sharing What Having CM Punk In WWE Means
Rhea Ripley looked back on her early days as a wrestling fan and how much CM Punk meant to her have him back in WWE.
Rhea Ripley opened up about how emotional it was to see CM Punk return to WWE during an interview on Unsportsmanlike with Evan Cohen, Chris Canty, and Michelle Smallmon. She joined CM Punk to promote WWE: Unreal, the upcoming Netflix reality series set to premiere on July 29.
Rhea Ripley said to imagine if, back in 2014, someone had said WWE would launch a major reality show on Netflix and that Punk would be doing the press for it. She said, “I mean, it’s wild. Younger me would be very, very happy and excited to see CM Punk coming back. Because he was one of my favorites growing up.”
Rhea Ripley recalled watching CM Punk all the time when she was younger, especially during memorable moments like his iconic pipe bomb promo. “He was one that I used to watch all the time. And, like, the pipe bomb, like, just watching you on the mic going, ‘Yeah, he’s getting sweaty again.’ But just seeing, like, everything that unfolded in the last, like, year of CM Punk in WWE.
Rhea Ripley recalled felt genuinely upset watching him leave WWE and kept hoping he would return someday. “I was just, like, upset to watch him go, and I really wanted him to come back. So if you told younger me that he would be back. Hell, I’d be… sitting here talking about WWE: Unreal with him. It’d be an absolutely wild experience for little me she’ll absolutely freak out.”
