Report: WWE SmackDown Will ‘Heavily’ Feature Hulk Hogan Tributes

WWE is looking to honor the late Hulk Hogan in a big way.

Hogan passed away on Thursday at the age of 71. Tributes from around the pro wrestling world have poured in, including statements from Vince McMahonRic Flair and The Rock. Thursday’s episode of TNA Impact opened with a tribute to Hogan. News of Hogan’s death was felt around the world, as U.S. President Donald Trump also spoke in tribute to the late Hogan.

According to a new report from Fightful (via Fightful Select), WWE is making plans to honor Hogan in a big way. The outlet noted that WWE has reached out to “numerous legends” to either bring them to the taping or have them record video tributes for Hulk Hogan. WWE sources noted that the company is “looking to honor Hogan heavily” on tonight’s SmackDown broadcast.

Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown takes place at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland. Hogan was also set to host the debut event for his Real American Freestyle promotion in Cleveland on August 30 at the nearby Wolstein Center. RAF issued a statement on Hogan’s passing, writing that it intends to honor his legacy.

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown was scheduled to feature the following segments and matches:

  • Randy Orton and Jelly Roll confront Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul
  • Alexa Bliss vs. Roxanne Perez
  • The Wyatt Sicks (c) vs. Andrade and Rey Fenix
  • Cody Rhodes will address his SummerSlam match with John Cena

It is unclear how, if at all, WWE’s Hulk Hogan tributes will affect the existing format of the show.
