Mr. Iguana On Whether Alberto El Patron Will Return To WWE
WWE has avoided making reference to Alberto El Patron since acquiring AAA, including having El Hijo del Vikingo win the AAA Mega Title.
On a recent edition of the “WrestleBinge” podcast, Mr. Iguana addressed whether El Patron will appear in WWE given his controversial past. He said,
“Alberto is — I’m like, you can hear the crowd getting crazy for him and he’s like a big heel. And right now, I don’t know, Lucha Libre is so mysterious that from being the big heel, now people is cheering for him, he’s becoming a big baby face — big baby face.
“Yeah, so this is the magic of Lucha, you don’t know, you can’t control the crowd, because the crowd is the one that’s telling you what they want to see. Yes. So, as much as they love a wrestler, one day they go down, and so maybe one day they see me, like me for the first time, and they get big.”
El Patron was part of WWE’s main roster for two runs between 2010 and 2016. He was released in 2014 after an incident with a backstage worker.
Mr. Iguana has proven especially popular with fans as part of the WWE-AAA era, with reports that WWE is eager to use him more on TV.
Iguana reportedly earned heat behind the scenes, however, after claiming that WWE wanted him to skip NXT and move him to the main roster.
