Mark Henry Is Excited For CM Punk, Karrion Kross Reveals Initial Reaction To Chris Bey’s Injury
CM Punk will be in the main event of WrestleMania 41 (Night One).
During a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Mark Henry expressed his excitement for Punk and opined on what it means to be in the main event of WWE’s biggest show of the year. He said,
“I’m very excited and very happy for Punk to have that opportunity. There’s not many things, Dave, that trump the fact that you get to be the main event at WrestleMania. Not many … there’s a short list [who have main evented WrestleMania]. To be one of those means that the company trusts you, it means the fans are willing to pay the money to come see you, and it validates the fact amongst your peers that you are supremely elite. His [Punk] career is validated [after he main events WrestleMania 41]. I mean, he’s CM Punk, but it don’t hurt to have those degrees. Punk now is getting his piece of paper on the wall, and to be able to get that, I think, is going to be — not beneficial to him in his work, but in his heart, in his soul of wrestling. It paid off.”
Chris Bey suffered a severe neck injury last year that temporarily left him paralyzed, though he has since regained the ability to walk.
In a recent appearance on the “Vegas BadBoyz” podcast, Karrion Kross — who helped train Bey — revealed that he was “crushed” by the news and even experienced a panic attack upon hearing it. He said,
“Yeah, I was crushed. I was on a flight when I got the news. Now that Chris is doing better — I haven’t even told him this — I was on a flight when I got the news, and I had like a full-blown panic attack on the airplane, and I don’t have panic attacks. Like, we’ve all known him — for those of us that know him — that kid is bulletproof. The stuff you’re seeing him do now, like the best parts of his career, he was doing that almost from day one. He just wanted to learn something, he’d see something, and he wanted to learn it, and he would learn how to do it. Just the way he takes care of his body, the way he trains for things, his mentality. He’d be like the last person on earth I’d ever think something like this could happen to. So it struck so many negative chords when I heard about it.”
