Cody Rhodes Reveals The Real Problem John Cena Has With His Work
Some of John Cena’s criticisms of Cody Rhodes during his on-screen ‘burying’ of the WWE Champion weren’t just for the on-screen programming.
During Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, Cena argued that there was nothing genuine about Cody and he has instead leaned on cheap tricks and gimmicks to win over fans.
On a recent edition of the “Pardon My Take” podcast, Rhodes explained that this comment by Cena hit very close to home. He said,
“One of the big disagreements John Cena and I have had—and we’ve had this disagreement behind the scenes, backstage and right in front of the camera—is that he feels I’m not authentic enough, or at least not as authentic as he was. At this point, I’m pretty confident in who I am and what I’ve proven. I feel like I’ve got a proven track record.”
Cena and Rhodes will do battle at WWE WrestleMania 41 where Cena hopes to win his 17th WWE World Championship.
Cena has also claimed he will retire as WWE Champion, forcing WWE to create a new ‘toy’ for talent to fight over without the history of the real title.
