Matt Hardy Recalls “One-Sided” Partnership Between AEW & TNA
On a recent edition of his “The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt Hardy recalled AEW working with TNA in 2020 and 2021. He said,
“I would have liked to seen them put TNA over a little more, to try and make them look somewhat more on the same level, even if they weren’t.”
The deal saw plenty of crossover between the two companies, though many felt that AEW often put down TNA and its accomplishments.
The deal saw Tony Khan ‘buy’ ad-time on TNA programming in which he would promote AEW and its roster at the time.
WWE and TNA recently announced a partnership between the two promotions that will feature years of crossover among talent.
On the podcast, Matt was asked if this deal is WWE’s attempt to sabotage AEW by proving to be a better partner to TNA. He said,
“I’m sure it could be, especially from WWE because I know the AEW — some of the tweets that Tony [Khan] has written about Hunter [Triple H] and Shawn [Michaels] and the company, and the ‘Weinstein Wrestling Federation,’ whatever it was, I mean, I’m sure those don’t make people happy, you know? But one thing I can say is I know whenever the partnership was going on with AEW and TNA, I thought it was very one-sided.”
There has been speculation among fans that TNA Wrestling could have involvement in tonight’s 2025 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event.
One name fans are eager to see is Joe Hendry. Click here to check out the TNA World Champion’s thoughts on a Rumble appearance.
