Ethan Page Says He Came Close To Retiring In 2024

Ethan Page was genuinely ready to leave wrestling behind after his NXT World Championship loss in late 2024, the former champion claimed this week.

Page lost the gold to Trick Williams during WWE NXT’s debut on The CW Network in a match that was officiated by WWE RAW’s CM Punk.

In December, Page cut a promo that sounded a lot like a retirement announcement but attacked Je’Von Evans after he talked Page out of quitting.

On a recent edition of the “Busted Open After Dark” podcast, Page shared that what he said in his promo was close to the truth. He said,

“I’m 35 years old; I have two children and a wife. I gave up my entire life to bring them here, move to Orlando, uprooted from our dream home in Michigan.

“I’ve been spending as much money to keep my family happy while we’re here, and all I’ve been doing since losing the championship is letting them down.”

Page added that he’d spoken to Shawn Michaels about becoming a coach but he realized he didn’t want to leave competing in the ring just yet.

Since then, Page has shown a more vicious side to his character. Je’Von hasn’t competed since Page broke his jaw on the December 12 show.
