The Good Brothers Discuss Their NJPW Return

The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) discussed returning to New Japan Pro Wrestling on August 14th. 

They’ve been gone for 5 years after they departed to go to WWE. They spoke about their return in an interview with NJPW’s YouTube channel. 

Gallows: “I definitely thought we’d be back to New Japan at some point. I didn’t know it would be in the pandemic era at New Japan Strong in Los Angeles in front of no crowd, but I knew we’d be back at some point. I think we always knew that New Japan would be something that we wanted to have on the table and wanted to be able to partake in. No matter where we went, we wanted that to be the option. IMPACT allowed that right out of the gate. That was one of the first things in our conversation, being able to work with New Japan, but the world still wasn’t open yet. New Japan Strong was the next best option. We thought it was going to happen sooner because here we are over a year later. Karl has been saying, and I couldn’t agree more, we want to return to Japan when there is a full crowd and feel that reaction. It’s going to be a big moment for the fans, for us, for wrestling.”

Anderson: “When we left in 2016, that was a chapter in our career and it was time. It was time for us to go. I think we did everything we possibly could in New Japan in the tag team world and Bullet Club and that era of the Bullet Club. It was just time. I wasn’t 100% sure I would ever see a New Japan ring again. All the shit happened with COVID and all the signs that led us back to where I truly believe we belong. It’ll come full circle when we get to actually step foot in Japan. When that happens, it’ll be a totally different thing and feel. To be able to see some of those guys that I’ve been on the road with for so long and step in the ring again. Nothing cooler than New Japan. They made my name who I am and it’s pretty special,” he said. “Hearing that Japanese reaction, it gives me chills now just remembering the feeling. Once the world gets rocking, it’s going to be bad ass and hopefully sooner than later we can figure this whole thing out.”
