Ric Flair Pushes Back on Huge Praise for Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay at AEW All In
Ric Flair has shared his thoughts on the praise surrounding the recent AEW World Championship clash between Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay.
Ospreay defeated Omega in the main event of All In: London to capture the AEW World Championship. The bout marked the third singles meeting between the two AEW stars and is likely to be the final chapter in their singles rivalry.
Following the match, fans and wrestling figures praised the encounter, with some comparing Omega and Ospreay’s work to legendary rivalries from previous generations.
Flair, however, believes such comparisons are premature.
In a post on X, Flair made it clear that he has tremendous respect for both Omega and Ospreay. However, he pushed back against comparisons between the two AEW stars and himself and Ricky Steamboat.
Flair argued that he and Steamboat’s rivalry set a different standard, pointing to the longevity and frequency of their matches. He also challenged Omega and Ospreay to maintain that level of output before placing them in the same conversation.
“No One Has More Respect For @KennyOmegamanX And @WillOspreay Than Me! But To Compare Them To Steamboat And I Is Like Comparing The Mississippi River To The Pacific Ocean! When They Have A Great Match 300 Times A Year And 200 Hour Broadways, Get Back To Me!”
Ric Flair Says Omega and Ospreay Have Yet to Reach His Level
Flair concluded by acknowledging that Ospreay and Omega are outstanding young talents while suggesting there is nothing wrong with being considered second-best. He then referenced the lasting impact of his matches with Steamboat, noting that fans are still discussing their bouts decades later.
“Until Then, There Is No Problem With Being Number Two. You Are Great Young Talent, But Let’s Get Serious Kids! You Should Only Hope That You Have People Talking About Your Matches 37 Years Later! WOOOOO!”
Ospreay’s reign as AEW World Champion will now move forward following his victory over Omega. The newly crowned champion is advertised to appear on AEW Dynamite, which is set to air later tonight.
