Aleister Black In Active Negotiations For AEW Return — Report

Aleister Black is reportedly in active negotiations for his AEW return.
Aleister Black and his wife, Zelina Vega, were among several main roster and developmental talents WWE released following WrestleMania 42. Now, according to SEScoops, Black is in active negotiations with All Elite Wrestling to make his return to the promotion.
Aleister Black competed in AEW from 2021 to 2025 and led the House of Black faction. The report notes that a source with direct knowledge of the discussions has confirmed that Black and the promotion are in talks about his potential return. However, terms have not been finalized, and no agreement is in place.
The new development comes after several reports over the past two weeks suggested that AEW had no interest in bringing back Aleister Black. If the deal goes through, Black will join Andrade as a performer who has gone between AEW and WWE on multiple occasions.
Despite this report, Fightful (via Fightful Select) claims that the situation between AEW and Black haven’t actually progressed. It was noted that the initial report claimed negotiations are happening regardless of public framing, but AEW has denied those talks are taking place now. Fightful pointed out that Black still has more than two months left on his WWE deal (per the terms of his release), so anything could happen between now and then. Either way, AEW has denied having been in talks with Black.
Booker T explains why Aleister Black was a ‘target’ during WWE cuts
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T addressed the recent WWE talent cuts and had a straightforward explanation for why Aleister Black was one of them.
“All these years, do you remember one Aleister Black match?” When co-host Brad Gilmore gave some examples and noted that he could’ve done a lot with Black if he were running WWE, Booker T said, “Not that I couldn’t do anything with Aleister Black. It’s just that we got so many people to do stuff with. Especially right now, we got so many people coming up to do stuff with. Just the influx from NXT.
“Guys gotta understand that if you’re not the megastar, the top five, you could have a problem. One thing about guys that’s been around 10 plus years, and they’re not in that top five, and these young guys are coming in, who do you think they’re gonna be looking to remove?” Booker T asked. So it’s business more than anything. That’s why I say guys really need to understand where they are as far as the star power goes if they don’t want that to happen.”
