Two Major Matches Being Added to WWE WrestleMania 42 — Report

WWE is reportedly adding two more matches to the WrestleMania 42 card.

For the second year in a row, WWE WrestleMania will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 18 and 19. Despite the slow early build-up, WWE is picking up the pace by putting together an entertaining card for the event.

With five matches already announced, F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer has reported on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the company is looking to add two more contests to the card. He noted that Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu and AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch are expected to be added to the lineup.

While WWE has already booked Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu for the upcoming episode of SmackDown, Meltzer noted that it’s only to heighten interest in their WrestleMania match. Becky Lynch attacked AJ Lee after her Women’s Intercontinental Championship match against Bayley on this week’s RAW, possibly setting up their rematch at WrestleMania 42.

Dave Meltzer also speculated that Seth Rollins could wrestle either Logan Paul or Bron Breakker at WrestleMania 42. However, Breakker’s appearance depends on whether he’s healed from his hernia surgery before the event. He also noted that despite Paul and Austin Theory going after the Uso’s World Tag Team Championship, it doesn’t necessarily mean the Maverick won’t compete against Rollins at ‘Mania.

Several other WWE Superstars’ WrestleMania 42 status addressed

Reports indicated earlier this month that WWE is planning a record number of women’s matches for WrestleMania 42. Addressing that subject, Meltzer added that a multi-team match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, featuring Nia Jax & Lash Legend, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, Bayley & Lyra Valkyria, Asuka & Kairi Sane, and the Bella Twins, is in the mix.

He also noted that fans can expect a similar type of match for SmackDown’s WWE Tag Team Championship. With his rumored opponent Rey Mysterio out with an injury, Meltzer also addressed Gunther’s status, saying, It doesn’t seem like the Ring General has any program at WrestleMania 42. He also speculated about a potential mask vs. mask match between the two El Grande Americanos.

Dave Meltzer also indicated that WWE United States Champion Carmelo Hayes could defend the title against Ilja Dragunov, Trick Williams could take on Sami Zayn, and Giulia could defend the Women’s United States Championship against Tiffany Stratton.

Meltzer also speculated that following his appearance on last week’s SmackDown, Jelly Roll could make an appearance at WrestleMania 42. In total, he noted that WWE could feature 14 to 16 matches across both nights of the event.
