Trick Williams says it’s a great time to be a black wrestler in WWE now.

Speaking on ESPN First Take ahead of his big WrestleMania debut, former two-time NXT Champion and current SmackDown star Trick Williams noted that it’s a beautiful time for black wrestlers in WWE now. He gave a shout-out to legends like Booker T, The Rock, and Bobby Lashley for paving the way for younger stars like him, Je’Von Evans, and Oba Femi.

“It’s a beautiful time. A lot of these things, you can’t really control and say it’s because I did something that’s so great. It’s the right time, and I gotta shout out respect to the guys who came before me. The Booker T’s, The Rock, the Bobby Lashley’s that came before me, who laid down the foundation for brothers like myself and Je’Von and Oba to do great things,” Trick Williams said.

Trick Williams thanked Nick Khan and Triple H

Speaking further, Trick Williams also thanked WWE President Nick Khan and Chief Content Officer Triple H for allowing him to be himself on television.

“Shout out to Triple H and Nick Khan because they say, ‘Trick, go be yourself, man, we can’t write nothing for you. We don’t know your background, we can’t talk like you, just go get yourself over. Go be yourself.’ And they let me be myself, and look, we bringing the culture. We got Lil Yachty coming to SmackDown. He’s coming all the way to St. Louis. He’s going to turn up with the WWE, so it’s a great time,” Trick Williams said.

Trick Williams will take on Sami Zayn for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 42. It will be interesting to see whether former champion Carmelo Hayes will also get added to the match since Williams cost him the title.
