Ted DiBiase Jr. Issues Statement On Mississippi Welfare Scandal Ruling
Former WWE Superstar Ted DiBiase Jr. released a statement after getting acquitted on 13 federal charges in the Mississippi welfare funds scandal.
On Friday, March 20, 2026, a jury found Ted DiBiase Jr. not guilty on 13 charges, including conspiracy, wire fraud, theft, and money laundering related to the Mississippi welfare funds scandal. The former WWE Tag Team Champion has avoided a potential maximum of 185 years imprisonment in federal prison as a result of the acquittal.
A tearful Ted DiBiase Jr. spoke to reporters outside the Thad Cochran United States Courthouse after the verdict, explaining how he felt after hearing the words “not guilty” thirteen times. “It still hasn’t sunk in. It’s just been so long that this cloud has lived over me. And I’m just grateful for it to be over, and I’m grateful that I get to go home to my children, and I will remain with them.”
Ted DiBiase Jr. then followed up with a statement on his X/Twitter account, expressing his gratitude to his defense attorney, Eric Herschmann, who has served as a Senior Advisor to President Donald Trump from August 2020 to January 2021.
“A Mississippi jury has acquitted me on all charges. I am forever indebted to nationally recognized trial lawyer Eric Herschmann, who guided my overall defense strategy and stepped in to masterfully cross-examine the government’s star witness.
“I and my family are grateful to him and Jon Gonzales of his firm Herschmann Benson Bowen for their incredible commitment and loyalty. I have seen firsthand and agree with @icecube: Eric Herschmann is the best lawyer in the country! Thank you for defending my innocence and bring Truth into the light. Forever Grateful,” Ted DiBiase Jr. posted.
