Matt Hardy Confirms TNA Contract Status
Matt Hardy has confirmed his and Jeff Hardy’s contract status with TNA Wrestling.
Ahead of TNA Wrestling’s debut on the AMC network, one-half of the promotion’s reigning World Tag Team Champions and pro wrestling legend Matt Hardy has confirmed that he and his brother Jeff Hardy have signed new contracts with TNA. In fact, they have been re-signed for a while.
Reacting to Mike Gilbert and J.D. Oliva talking about The Hardys’ impact on TNA Wrestling’s success on the latest episode of the Mike and JD Show, Matt Hardy confirmed that he and his brother have already signed new contracts with the company. This announcement comes after Fightful Select’s recent report that The Hardys are yet to sign new contracts.
“This chat was a fun dive into myself & @JEFFHARDYBRAND’s brotherly relationship as well as a discussion about the Hardys’ effect on @ThisIsTNA’s business at 44:40.. Thanks for a very compelling combo, @MikeGilbert311. BTW, we’ve been re-signed for a while. Merry Christmas, guys!” Matt Hardy posted.
Matt Hardy Wants TNA To Focus On Story More Than Five-Star Matches
Speaking in a recent episode of his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy addressed TNA Wrestling’s new deal with AMC, saying the promotion needs to focus on the storytelling aspect of wrestling instead of “five-star matches.”
“I want us to focus on story more than f*king five-star matches, because that’s f*king way too overdone now. I mean, in AEW, they can have all those,” Hardy said. “But like, the type of audience we’re looking for are people that are getting compelled by the storytelling in the characters. That is something I want to focus on. I’ll say that blatantly right out front.
“There’ll be good wrestling on it, but we’re not going to be obsessed over that,” he explained. “I think at the end of the day, pro wrestling is the most important things. Are moments… AEW, that’s their thing. They stand out. They have their wrestling like that. I don’t think that’s the direction we’re gonna go. We need to find our own identity and go in a different direction,” Matt Hardy said. [H/T WrestlingNewsCo]
After he made these comments, Matt Hardy called out AEW star Dax Harwood, believing the latter’s comments about five-star matches were aimed at him.
