Matt Riddle Reacts To Claim He Ripped Off Charity And No-Showed Wrestling Event
Matt Riddle addresses his absence from Global Kingdom Wrestling.
A recent report from Cultaholic indicated that Matt Riddle no-showed Global Wrestling Kingdom’s A New Kingdom Rises event last weekend after the MLW World Champion expressed concern with the quality of his flight and his hotel stay, which would have spanned two days in Barnsley, England.
The report added that he had yet to return the deposit paid to him by GWK. Additionally, GWK made attempts to organize wrestling seminars for Riddle to partake in so he could make extra money while in the United Kingdom. Due to time limitations, however, that plan never materialized.

Riddle himself has since responded to these claims, confirming that the former concerns were true, though there were other contributing factors that ultimately led to his absence.
“GWK, the reason I didn’t go is because you booked me a flight for Thursday for a show that’s happening Sunday, and you said you were booking me meet and greets, other matches, and appearances. You did none of that,” Riddle said in a video posted to X. “I had nothing scheduled, I was gonna sit in a hotel room for two days in London. Told you multiple times I can’t do that, or I wouldn’t do that.
“I got work on Friday, Saturday, and Thursday, and I told you I’d fly to London Saturday evening. You said, ‘You pay for it.’ I go, ‘No, you pay for it, take it out of my pay, whatever.’ You guys refused, so I flew to Miami and wrestled there. I never said I wouldn’t pay you guys back. That’s a lie. Also, this show wasn’t a charity event. That’s a lie. That was a last-second change. You also booked me the worst flight in history, bro, middle seat, no meal, no checked bag. GWK, this is probably your last run.”

At GWK’s A New Kingdom Rises, which was advertised as a charity show, Riddle was slated to take on Simon Miller. When Riddle failed to appear, GWK then replaced him with Grado. As Riddle attests, he instead competed for Boca Raton Championship Wrestling in Florida that same day.
