CM Punk Is Into ‘Sad Bastard’ Songs, But Has Chappell Roan On His Playlist

CM Punk, a Midwest king, is supporting his Midwest queen.
Last October, the Celtic Warrior Workouts series returned with Randy Orton as its first guest. In the latest episode, host Sheamus partook in a chest and bicep workout alongside CM Punk at WWE Headquarters.
Amidst the exercise, Sheamus and Punk moved the conversation to the topic of music, with the former asking the latter about embarrassing songs circulating in his playlists. According to Punk, he doesn’t consider any part of his music catalog to be shameful. In fact, he embraces the entire thing, including tracks from budding popstar and fellow Midwesterner Chappell Roan.
“I don’t have any embarrassing songs on my playlist. I have songs that people I think would maybe think are embarrassing. But to me, you like what you like, you know?” Punk said. “I listen to Doechii. I think Chappell Roan is the one that people would be like ‘CM Punk doesn’t like to listen to Chappel Roan.’ I do. My Midwest queen.
“I don’t like Coldplay, [but] I recognize they got some bangers,” he added. “Fix You is a good one. [I’m into] sad bastard songs.”
Punk, a former WWE Champion, is famously known for his Chicago, Illinois roots. Meanwhile, Roan hails from Willard, Missouri, about an eight-hour southwest drive away.
In 2023, Roan released an album titled The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, with “Pink Pony Club,” “Hot To Go,” and “Femininomenon” as notable hits.
CM Punk recently reacted to Jeff Hardy’s desire to have a retirement match with him. See what Hardy had to say about Punk’s response here.
