Cody Rhodes – ‘John Cena’s WrestleMania Return Was Like Lightning Had Struck’
Cody Rhodes was as surprised as anyone to see John Cena return to WWE as part of the main event chaos from WrestleMania 40 (Night Two).
During Rhodes’ match with Roman Reigns, Cena appeared to attack Solo Sikoa who had interfered on behalf of his Tribal Chief.
Speaking on The TODAY Show, Rhodes spoke about Cena’s shocking appearance at Lincoln Financial Field. He said,
“What was fun was that at the point in the match when John comes down, it was like lighting had struck in the arena. He brings an energy that’s very John Cena. Very special. Also he’s been the quarterback of WWE.”
This win marks Rhodes’ first WWE World Championship reign. He ended the historic 1,316 day run of Roman Reigns, who is now expected to take a break from TV.
At #WrestleMania 40, @CodyRhodes #CodyRhodes defeated Roman Reigns making him the @WWE undisputed universal champion.
He joins TODAY to talk about earning the belt and what his father, the late wrester Dusty Rhodes, would think about the achievement. #FinishTheStory pic.twitter.com/0SivtGch9b
