Acey Romero has reportedly parted ways with IMPACT Wrestling.
AdFreeShows’ Jon Alba first reported the news.
I’m told IMPACT Wrestling has released Acey Romero, and he can now work with any promotion.
Romero hadn’t appeared on TV since early spring after he contracted COVID-19, and @SeanRossSapp reported last month he requested his release after not being used for months. #IMPACT

Per previous reports, Romero asked for his release at the end of August; he hasn’t appeared on IMPACT programming since May 20. Romero tested positive for COVID-19 around this time, but he still wasn’t used after he was cleared.
In an update, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Romero obtained his release, and that while the process was somewhat slow-going, it was fairly smooth otherwise. Ross Sapp Notes that Romero’s departure doesn’t come with a non-compete clause, so he’s free to compete elsewhere. During his absence from IMPACT, Romero has remained active on the independent circuit, particularly for Limitless Wrestling.
Larry D, Romero’s partner in XXXL, is still signed to IMPACT, but he hasn’t been used since Romero’s last appearance, either.
