Lawsuit Involving Brian Lawler (Brian Christopher) Still Ongoing, Moving To Trial

According to Pwinsider, the lawsuit surrounding the untimely death of Brian Lawler (aka, Brian Christopher/Grandmaster Sexay in WWE) is still ongoing and will be heading to trial. Jerry “The King” Lawler filed the lawsuit back in 2019 after his son Brian died in 2018 while he was still in police custody after a D.U.I arrest. The trial is set to begin on May 23, 2022. Originally, the plan was to begin on May 24, 2020, but was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Lawler’s legal representatives including Sheriff John Doolen have taken deposition. Lawler states that Doolen promised him that Brian would be getting help for his addiction issues while he was in custody. However, Jerry claims that Brian did not get any help whatsoever and he felt betrayed by Doolen.

Lawler is looking to get $3 million in damages, as well as additional compensatory damages if the court awards it. Jerry also wants a court order for Hardeman County to force immediate changes to prevent future suicides of prisoners in custody.

The lawsuit states, “the order should require “Hardeman County to correct their unconstitutional deficiencies so that no other family has to go through what this family has had to endure over the past year.”
