International Viewership Numbers Revealed For WWE, US Viewership Down
While the ratings here in the United States continue to stagnate or decline for WWE, overseas tells a different story. In a report by Lucha Libre Online, during the month of January, Monday Night RAW’s average viewership in India topped 4 million, while Smackdown averaged 3 million and NXT was over 1 million viewers in the country. Those numbers are very good when you compare to the average here in the US.
Here in the states, RAW averages 1.819 million viewers for the month of January. SmackDown brought in 2.216 million viewers in January, while NXT averaged about 643,000. Additionally, both RAW and SmackDown combined brought in a combined total of 1 million viewers across South America, and 300,000 each in the countries of South Africa, Canada and Germany.
One important factor is the demographic, which is different from what the metric system used in the US. For instance, here in the US we go by demographics such as the 18-49 range as the primary demo, including pro wrestling. Other television networks in international countries may be a part of a subscription based system or use other profitable metric systems.
