Another WWE Departure – Details Inside
According to Super Luchas, Spanish language announcer Jerry Soto has been released from WWE. He was notified of his release last Friday. As we reported earlier today here on eWn, WWE laid off a number of staff members last Friday. The belief is that 10 to 15 employees were let go. They were mostly behind the scenes staff in Stamford, CT. Soto and longtime ring announcer Tony Chimel were among those let go.
Soto joined WWE in October of 2011 after the company released Hugo Savinovich. He was brought to his audition by longtime announcing team member Marcelo Rodríguez. Rodríguez and Carlos Cabrera are now doing the TV shows, taking turns with one announcing RAW and the other calling SmackDown.
