Paul Walter Hauser Reveals Why He Turned Down Role In A John Cena Movie
Paul Walter Hauser could have shared a film set with John Cena.
When he’s not taking bumps in a wrestling ring, Paul Walter Hauser can often be found on set for television shows and films. During a recent appearance on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Hauser revealed that one project would have actually blended the world of wrestling and acting together. In the end, though, the gig didn’t pan out as Hauser turned it down.
“I got offered Ricky Stanicky at one point, the Efron-Cena movie,” Hauser said, “and it just wasn’t a lot of money. They didn’t want to fly my whole family first class to Australia. I was like, that’s a long flight. That’s not mad chill. I kind of had that Matt Riddle moment, he had that thing where he’s like, You guys put me in second class with a ham sandwich between three people squished like he had that. But this was me seven weeks out, going, I don’t think that makes sense for me. I passed and I felt horrible because I think Zac Efron is really fun.”
Released in 2024, Ricky Stanicky is a comedy film starring Zac Efron, former WWE Champion John Cena, Jermaine Fowler, and Andrew Santino. The film follows the story of three friends (Efron, Fowler, and Santino), who created a fictional person named Ricky Stanicky to evade times of trouble. When they’re later questioned about Stanicky’s existence, the friends hire an actor (John Cena) to portray him. Hauser’s potential role in Ricky Stanicky is unclear.
IMDB has given Ricky Stanicky a rating of 6.2 out of 10 stars.
